Mark Richt reportedly fired at Georgia
Zeier said Richt brought the Bulldogs to a consistent national ranking and put the program in conversations across the nation. “But I’m not sure, again, what I’m going to do yet”. Finishing behind Missouri twice and not taking advantage of the long slumber Tennessee seem to be in just doesn’t cut it, even if Georgia think of themselves as bigger than they actually are. “It’s very attractive to have the thought of being able to stay in Athens and still be able to help our young people”.

According to Jeff Ermann of Inside Maryland Sports (247Sports Maryland affiliate), Richt and Maryland have spoken about the opening and a meeting could come as soon as Tuesday.
Richt said he would consider being an offensive coordinator or even a quarterbacks coach again, because he missed working hands-on with players and missed calling plays during a game.
McGarity said he will hire a search firm, that the search begins immediately and is “wide open”. A smaller sign said “Fire McGarity”.
Richt finished his career at Georgia with a 145-51 record and the Bulldogs participated in a bowl game in each of his 15 seasons. “I don’t know what’ll happen yet”. Tri confirmed that Washington State coach Mike Leach stopped by the school Monday to talk to Eason and the sides arranged a home visit. I was all for that. “If it wasn’t offered to me I would’ve asked for it. I don’t have a preference, there are a lot of great bowls out there”.
The players, more than any fans or students, were the most upset at the end of the Mark Richt Era. McGarity said such a backlash was “expected”. “To think that I had a part to play in that”. Mark has tremendous support.
I’m willing to bet that what Georgia gets is a bunch of 5-7 or 6-6 seasons, while they wander aimlessly in the SEC desert. “Those things will really remain between Mark and myself”.
If UGA had its way, the next guy would likely be Alabama defensive coordinator and former Bulldogs safety Kirby Smart.
Alabama coach Nick Saban reacted to the news with shock.
Kentucky QB to transfer • Kentucky coach Mark Stoops has announced that junior quarterback Patrick Towles will transfer. He’s a good teacher, players respond to him well. “I don’t have any question about that at all”. The last time the school won the championship was 1980.
Rutgers: The school fired coach Kyle Flood and athletic director Julie Hermann. If Georgia isn’t being investigated for violating major NCAA rules, then the right coach has not been hired. He thanked everyone from Vince Dooley and Michael Adams, the two men responsible for hiring him, all the way down to the Georgia band, the cheerleaders and the Bulldogs fan base in typical Richt fashion. Before taking the Georgia job, Richt was the offensive coordinator at Florida State under Bobby Bowden.
Georgia closed the regular season with four straight wins, but that was not enough to make up for failing to land a spot in the SEC title game. Smart, an All-SEC safety at Georgia from 1995-98, won the Broyles Award as the country’s top assistant coach in 2009.

The Terps have been linked to several high-profile candidates as athletic director Kevin Anderson continues his search for a new coach.
