Mark Richt to Meet with Maryland
However, the reasons for the dismissal remain unknown. “We had a good mature, adult conversation on Sunday morning for about an hour and a half or so”.

I’ve written many times before there is no loyalty anymore, on any level. Landing Richt would be a huge gain for the Terps, but does he want to go from Georgia, a SEC powerhouse, to Maryland, a program trying to right the ship. I respect that. I think it got to the point where there wasn’t enough confidence in my leadership to get it done.
Georgia hasn’t won an SEC title since 2005, and last won the SEC East in 2012.
Richt will take the Bulldogs to a 15th consecutive bowl game this postseason when he coaches this team for the final time. We have to understand it is part of the business. It’s not all that shocking to think it could happen.
I hope that we can live up to some of the expectations that people have been giving us over this summer, and I hope you get a chance to enjoy watching our season as it progresses. “But it didn’t work that way”, said Richt.
“Georgia football is going to be around a whole heck of a lot longer than I’m going to be alive…”
Richt said the the athletic department has offered him other football-related positions but he wants to decompress for a bit before making any decisions.
“There may be more opportunities that come in the next 24 to 48 hours”. “I really won’t have hardly anything to say about the search”.
“Any time Jacob’s ready to commit, the door is open”, he said of the Huskies’ approach.
Georgia will owe Richt a buyout of $4.1 million, according to the contract extension he signed in January.
“I am deeply grateful for his many years of dedicated service to the University of Georgia, and I particularly appreciate the positive way he has represented UGA”, Morehead said. “There are no issues there even though it’s not executed, and that’s the way it’s always been”.
While many had called for Richt’s ouster over the course of the season, there were no celebrations of Richt’s departure. I know all UGA alumni and supporters will look forward to celebrating the successful conclusion of his coaching career at UGA in a bowl game later this year. We’re very excited about our future.
His goodbye presser showed no hint of bitterness, and the fact that he even gave a goodbye presser at the school that just let him go shows the relative lack of ego we’re dealing with. “I love my alma mater, the ‘U.’ No doubt about it, but there’s been nobody calling or writing or texting or anything like that”.
Five-star defensive lineman Julian Rochester of McEachern High tweeted on Monday afternoon: “I got a lot on my mind right now”, along with a photo of Mark Richt and him.

While no one knows exactly what Tanner and others involved in the search are looking for it was reported today that believed to be target, Houston coach Tom Herman, has agreed in principle to stay at the school. “Good husband, good father, good citizen of our country, and hopefully a leader”.
