Mark Sanchez cut by Broncos

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – The Denver Broncos cut 22 players Friday and Saturday, trimming their roster to the NFL-mandated 53 players. “He wanted to stay here”.

It was an interesting spin of the quarterback carousel because there were reports Saturday that Dallas originally tried to sign Davis, but he balked because the Cowboys were offering no guaranteed money. We are discussing a player whom we hope to never see make a game appearance.

The fourth-round pick from Mississippi State finished the preseason 39-of-50 passing (78 percent) for 454 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions. I wonder if Dallas does pull this deal off and say Dak does struggle in the first few games would they be quick enough to put Sanchez in and sit Dak Prescott.

A person with knowledge of the deal said the Cowboys agreed on a one-year contract with Sanchez, who will back up rookie Dak Prescott while Tony Romo recovers from a back injury. A week later Siemian was named the starter for the Broncos’ Week 1 Super Bowl re-match with Carolina. At his opening press conference after the Broncos traded for him, Sanchez even talked about how his lack of a love life would help him achieve his goals. At the time, he was expected to replace the retired Peyton Manning as the team’s starting quarterback. The move saves the Broncos $4.5 million and they get their seventh round selection back from the Eagles.

They’re going to start a rookie at quarterback for at least half the season.

The Green Bay Packers have released three-time Pro Bowler Josh Sitton, making an unexpected change on their offensive line.

This comes after Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com first reported that the Cleveland Browns released Davis on August 29.

Former Texas A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson, who signed before the preseason finale in case Showers got hurt, was among those waived. Roberson, in fact, played in 25 games with six starts over the past two seasons, but was unimpressive this preseason. The Cowboys are weighing whether he could return a week or two before he would be eligible to return from injured reserve.

The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly brought in Mark Sanchez as an insurance policy for rookie Dak Prescott
