Mark Sanchez didn’t play in preseason finale
They finally solved their quarterback problem though, they just announced that Trevor Siemian will be their starter this season, according to The New York Times.

The Dallas Cowboys will be losing starting quarterback Tony Romo for the first half of the 2016 regular season. Prescott had an impressive preseason when he got on the field, although he could very well hit some speed bumps in the regular season. It’s a daunting task Dallas’ brass does not want the rookie facing without a veteran back-up. Still, the Broncos probably wish they had found a trade partner before the roster deadline Saturday.
The Cowboys signed Mark Sanchez and waived Jameill Showers on Sunday in a swap of backup quarterbacks behind rookie starter Dak Prescott. After losing the battle to Siemian, he was cut so that the defending Super Bowl champions didn’t have to send their seventh-rounder draft selection to Philadelphia Eagles. That’s the amount of time that passed between when the Broncos released him and Dallas picked him up.
Sanchez could potentially make a strong fit in Minnesota, as his best years came early in his career when he was surrounded by a strong ground game and a dominant defense.
The Broncos reportedly tried to trade Sanchez before the cut deadline on Saturday, but no teams were willing to take on his $4.5 million contract. It was the second-straight preseason game Sanchez didn’t play. He was sacked three times and fumbled twice.
Sanchez did not play in the Broncos final two preseason games after head coach Gary Kubiak named Trevor Siemian the starting quarterback in preseason Week 3.
Preseason matters: Running back Kapri Bibbs, who spent much of the past two seasons on the Broncos’ practice squad, faced an uphill climb to make the roster when training camp opened.
The Cowboys now have an experienced veteran entrenched behind Prescott until Romo’s return.

Lynch, the No. 26 pick overall in this year’s draft after a standout career at Memphis, was 13 for 22 for 214 yards and two scores, both to Jordan Taylor, but had an interception returned 29 yards for a touchdown by Gabe Martin.
