USA tech giant Apple has reportedly sent out invites to select media to cover the launch of the much-awaited iPhone 7 here on September 7. Apple is also strongly expected to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack with the introduction of iPhone 7, and instead, users will rely on using a single Lightning Port for connecting wired peripherals.

The Verge reports that this will be the fifth straight year Apple has had a special event in early September to announce new products. The case maker offers hard cases for protection, slim cases, invisible cases and even some that have a compartment in the back for holding a credit card or money. But this year, many speculate that Apple will buck the trend. The iPhone 7 aka iPhone 6SE will feature besides the new A10 CPU, up to 256GB storage, improved cameras and an improved iPhone 6 design. The leaked images confirms the new look of Apple iPhone 7. It doesn’t mention the processor for the iPhone 7 Plus, or if it has improved water and dust resistance.

Rumors for the past year have surfaced that the new phone will no longer have a headphone jack, and that all headphones going forward will need to be wireless.

The Apple Watch 2 is expected to have a similar design but could come with an in-built Global Positioning System and a larger battery. Fans will be able to watch the much awaited event of Apple Inc. on its website.

Of course, the biggest adjustment in terms of usability is expected to be the removal of the headphone jack, which has graced every iPhone and the vast majority of smartphones industry-wide.

We will have more details about Apple’s new iPhones when they are made official at Apple’s press event next week. The Apple Watch 2 will also have a design similar to the one on the current model. On the other hand, it’s probably a good idea to wait until the new phones are actually announced before you make any decisions.
