Marlins bullpen doesn’t pick up Fernandez, Braves win 6

ATLANTA – Nick Markakis had three hits, including a tie-breaking two-run double in the seventh inning, and the Atlanta Braves beat the struggling Miami Marlins 6-3 on Friday night. “We said we would use the common sense approach with him”.

“It’s genuine. Not fake”, Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said of the emotion Swisher shows. Yes, you want to win games in baseball, but this Marlins club won’t be playing for any championships in 2015. He has thrown eight scoreless innings in three relief appearances against Atlanta this season. He is 1-1 with a 2.51 ERA in three games against the Braves this season. Cameron Maybin finished the night with two doubles and two runs scored. Pierzynski drove in Castro with a single to left, extending his hitting streak to 12 games. His average for the season is.303.

“Eventually, I’m going to win a game”, Miller said. “He’s been unbelievable”. Foltynewicz lasted 5.2 innings allowing two runs on five hits. The right-hander has struck out 53 in 43 innings. The 23-year-old held Baltimore to two runs on six hits in six innings of a 2-0 loss July 29, but surrendered two homers in that contest.

“Let’s see what it is before we speculate on something and have it be nothing more than a little normal stiffness that a lot of guys have postgame”, Jennings said via the Sun Sentinel. “He didn’t really have is best stuff, but he battled”.

The Atlanta Braves look to keep rolling after winning five of their seven games.

Miami got one in the second when J.T. Realmuto, returning after three games off with a sore hand, singled and scored on Cole Gillespie’s double into the corner in right. His control was a problem once again as we walked four and hit a batter, while striking out only three.

He went back out for the fifth and retired the side in order on only nine pitches.

A close game soon became lopsided, though, as the Miami bullpen faltered. We’ve got to step up.

Fernandez returned from Tommy John surgery earlier in the year.

Braves: Newly acquired OFs Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher are expected to be in the starting lineup for the Braves on Saturday. The Marlins could give Fernandez a chance to reboot and rehab his shoulder, something that never hurts.

Despite continuing to pitch respectably, Shelby Miller hasn’t earned a win since his near no-hitter against the Marlins on May 17.
