Kershaw pitched only three innings and needed 66 pitches to get through it. For 21 straight batters, there was no sniffing a baserunner against Hill, who is still yet to allow a run in three starts with the Dodgers. If he qualified he would easily have the league’s lowest xFIP and ERA, while his 33.0 strikeout rate is approaching his career high of 33.8 percent, set in 2015.

Sidelined since June 26 with a mild disk herniation, Kershaw started and pitched three innings in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 4-1 loss to the Miami Marlins on Friday night.
Kershaw struck out five and threw 46 strikes.
Mike Napoli launched a blast into the upper deck at Target Field for his 32nd home run of the season. Statcast estimated the blast at 463 feet.
In the first seven games of the month, they have split starts in right field depending on the handedness of the opposing starter, but on Saturday both are in the same lineup for the first time against Marlins right-hander Tom Koehler. Hill was a dominant road starter as an A, as he won each of his seven starts and only allowed seven runs in 44.2 road innings.
