The news came hours after the team placed Stanton on the disabled list with an injury he suffered on the final play of Saturday’s 8-7 loss to the Chicago White Sox. The All-Star has gone six straight starts without a win.Miami’s Tom Koehler, who had gone 3-0 with a 0.67 ERA in his past four starts, allowed six hits and three runs in six innings and left with a no-decision.Reliever Mike Dunn (3-1), who pitched a scoreless seventh inning, earned the win. In his last three starts, he’s allowed 12 hits and just three runs in 18 innings.

“I know I didn’t because I was running”, Navarro said. Diagnosed with a strained groin upon being forced to the sideline, he initially sustained the setback on Saturday against the Chicago White Sox.

“It’s a good feeling to see a ball get away and Dio actually score on that, ” White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. “It was a great throw”. Even with a prolonged six-week slump during the first half, he’s delivered 25 home runs and 70 RBIs this season.

“We lost a little confidence knowing the big guy is going to be on the DL”, Marlins third baseman Martin Prado said. The slugger’s absence will mean regular playing time for Ichiro Suzuki.

Miami CF Marcell Ozuna is 1-for-28 over his last eight games. Jeff Mathis and Adeiny Hechavarria hit consecutive singles to load the bases for Koehler, who crushed a single off of Sale’s foot, scoring Andino and Mathis to tie the game 2-2.

Shields has an ERA of 20.25 over his past three starts, all losses, and his ERA for the season with the Sox is 7.34. Jose Abreu hit an RBI single in the first inning, and a game-tying double that caromed off the third-base bag in the sixth.

The original idea was to cut and paste from whatever I wrote previous year about Stanton’s injury, but apparently it wasn’t my assignment at the time.
