Marlins Ichiro Suzuki and Reds Pete Rose

An even smaller subgroup exists: Players who recorded 3,000 or more hits within a 16-year window.
One of the most prolific hitters and polarizing figures in baseball history, the slumping slugger plans to take his final turn at-bat with the New York Yankees on Friday night and then become a special adviser and instructor with the team next year. His streak of 10 consecutive 200-hit seasons is the most by any player in Major League Baseball history.
Through his interpreter, Ichiro said more than the 3,000 hits itself, when he saw his teammates rush onto the field with joy and the fans cheering for him is what makes it so great to play baseball. Suzuki led the majors in hits seven times, including five consecutive seasons from 2006-10.
He is also the fourth player born outside of the United States to reach 3,000 hits, joining Clemente, Rod Carew and Rafael Palmeiro.
Suzuki is the seventh player to reach 3,000 hits and 500 stolen bases in his career.
Giancarlo Stanton hit his 24th homer and Christian Yelich and Jeff Mathis had three hits and three RBIs each for the Marlins. “I said, “Congratulations, ‘” Arenado said”.
Diamondbacks 9, Brewers 3 – At Phoenix: Jake Lamb and Phil Gosselin each hit two-run homers during a five-run fifth inning to help Arizona beat Milwaukee.
“I think that is what I want to experience and that is what is important for me”, he said through an interpreter last month. While this may not be an official record, he may just break the Major League Baseball record as he has stated in the past that he plans to play 8 more years or until he reaches the age of 50. The most games he had played in a season in Japan was 135.
Third base coach Lorenzo Bundy hugged Suzuki as Miami players came out of the dugout to congratulate him.
The Giants played a close game on Sunday, allowing only two hits but somehow managing to lose 1-0 to the Washington Nationals. One reason could be because the rest of the league is playing down to their level. I’ve been able to get some hits. He was replaced by Miguel Rojas, who inherited a 3-2 count and reached on an error by Arenado. Parra played right field on Sunday while OF Carlos Gonzalez rested his sore left ankle. Marlins RHP Nefi Ogando was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans and LHP Hunter Cervenka was added to the roster after being acquired Saturday from Atlanta He made his Marlins debut and pitched a scoreless sixth. He would later score on a Prado two RBI-double extending the Marlins lead to 6-1.
It was a busy offensive day for the Marlins on Sunday with ten hits.

It was the first time the Rockies, who next face the AL-West leading Texas Rangers on Monday, lost a series since dropping two of three to Tampa Bay from July 18-20. Ranked 28th through 30th are Craig Biggio (3.7), Dave Winfield (3.5) and Lou Brock (2.7).
