Marner, Glencross and Setoguchi cut from Maple Leafs’ training camp roster

After at a Toronto Maple Leafs’ boot camp linked to test arrangement, frequent forward Brad Boyes made their group.

A meeting with Leafs general manager Lou Lamoriello brought a few clarity for Boyes: He’s going to be expected to score goals as much as possible and at the age of 33, add a few leadership in the dressing room. Setoguchi started the game on the top line with James van Riemsdyk and Tyler Bozak and was replaced later in the game by winger Leo Komarov.

Boyes was bought out by the Panthers this off-season with just one year left on his contract, despite being one of the team’s more productive players over the past two years (35 goals, 74 points in 154 games).

Devin Setoguchi and Curtis Glencross were really… (The average cap hit of this group is $5.8-million).

Glencross wasn’t as visibly bad for the Toronto Maple Leafs during camp, but he did nothing to convince the team to use a contract on him for the upcoming season.

Update: The Maple Leafs have confirmed the Boyes signing, although they didn’t specify the terms. In total, 44 of our 45 names have contracts signed for next year, and only one of those 44-players is set to make less than $3-million AAV next season.

The Dallas Stars also released former Leafs farmhand Jesse Blacker from a PTO.

In 2013-14, Boyes posted a surprising 21-goal season with Florida.
