Marriage, marathons as ‘The Force Awakens’ for US fans
The Force is strong tonight at movie theaters around the world, as the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened to blockbuster crowds. “The Force Awakens” is simultaneously opening around the world just about everywhere but China, where it debuts in January.

The “Harry Potter” film also holds the all-time record for opening day at $91 million.
John Holcomb, of Edenton, said he showed up on the film’s premiere night because he wanted to share his love for “Star Wars” with his children. It’s been a ten year gap since the last installment and the movie is expected to break box office records. The wait is finally over and “the force” has officially awakened at a theater near you.

“The extraordinary ticketing demand is truly unprecedented”, said Fandango President Paul Yanover. “We began noticing a gradual increase in sales of the title at the beginning of November, but it wasn’t until the past two weeks that purchases of Star Wars XXX really skyrocketed”.
