Marseille rally to earn draw with Lyon in temporarily suspended match

While Lyon coach Hubert Fournier conceded his team did not handle the 15-minute disruption well, Bisevac was impressed by Valbuena’s composure.

Lyon were leading 1-0 through a first-half penalty from Alexandre Lacazette when play was interrupted.

There was considerable booing when the attacking midfielder’s name was read out during the pre-match squad introduction, while the Marseille fans also hung an effigy of the player up in front of one of the tribune.

“I don’t want comment on the incidents, the officials made their decisions”.

That opportunity proved to be a false dawn for OM, though, and the game was turned on its head when Lacazette went down in the area under contact from Steve Mandanda and Buquet pointed at the spot.

Lacazette had seen his late penalty saved in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw against nine-man Gent in Belgium but held his nerve on Sunday to end his early-season drought.

“After that, Marseille came back better than us”.

Earlier, there had been a warning to fans in Marseille’s Virage Nord to stop throwing objects at Valbuena as he prepared to take a corner.

St Etienne moved up to third on 13 points with a 2-0 home win against Nantes – Jonathan Bamba and Robert Beric on target.

The principality club, who remain without a home win after three attempts, were up against it when Didier Ibrahim N’Dong and Benjamin Jeannot put Lorient into a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes.

Almamy Toure pulled one back for Monaco shortly after and the hosts were back on level terms when Thomas Lemar equalised just after the interval but substitute Benjamin Moukandjo’s 59th-minute strike won it for Lorient.

Toulouse looked to be on course for victory against Bordeaux after Adrien Regattin gave them a 23rd-minute lead, but Oscar Trejo received a straight red card for a foul on Clement Chantome, and Bordeaux took advantage, equalising through Enzo Crivelli a minute from time.

A number of flares were launched onto the pitch
