Marshawn Lynch ruled out of Sunday’s playoff game against Vikings

Last week: The Vikings claimed their first NFC North title in six years by defeating the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau; the Seahawks throttled the Cardinals in Arizona, 36-6.

The runners are both the prime options in their team’s respective offense, and it’ll be hard for Seattle to replace Lynch’s talent.

The Seahawks have never played in temperatures lower than 16 degrees when they visited Denver in 2006.

But after practice Friday, one in which Lynch was listed as a full participant, Carroll said that “I don’t know really” if Lynch will play against the Vikings and added that the team will assess how he responds to a full week of work. He appeared in seven games during the regular season, carrying 111 times for 417 yards (3.76 yards per carry). It’s won five straight outside CenutryLink Field, outscoring opponents 109-19 in the last three. Under Pete Carroll, the Seahawks have played only two games in temperatures under 25 degrees.

That dominant stretch began with a 38-7 trouncing of Minnesota (11-5) at TCF Bank Stadium on December 6, a result every bit as lopsided as the score indicated.

The scary part for the Vikings is that Wilson in the past was only getting warmed up once he started the playoffs. “I know that”™s been out there, but I don”™t know until we finish the week. “But there’s only four teams in the league that have better records than us, so we’ve done a couple things right”. These two teams are coming off huge wins to give them momentum for the playoffs. He was declared out late Friday night, leaving the running game in the hands of Christine Michael and Bryce Brown.

Lynch is the most intriguing name on the Seahawks injury report.

The 27-year-old quarterback has made the best football of his career during the second half of the season. Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin tied for league lead with 14 TDs…. Peterson and versatile RB Jerick McKinnon’s big-play opportunities could also be limited against Seattle, which allowed the NFL’s fewest points for the fourth consecutive season.

In the last game between these teams, Norv Turner was still in his “seven steps and chuck it deep” mindset on offense, even though the Seahawks looked to be conceding short passes if Bridgewater wanted to take them. One has to wonder what’s really going on after the team was so optimistic that he would indeed play Sunday.

“I still think there’s a higher ceiling for this group”. The Seahawks ran for 127 yards per game (342.5 total ypg) in games in which he was the starting tailback. “We’re just going to load the box, shut down A.P., make Bridgewater beat us, and it’s not going to happen”.

This is the news that we were hoping not to see. Though Rodgers hasn’t been his usual self, he has still completed 60.7 percent of his passes and has been smart with the ball (31 touchdowns to just eight interceptions). The only touchdown that the Vikings put on the board was a 101-yard kickoff return by Cordarrelle Peterson in the third quarter.
