McKenna had boasted to neighbors that he had a large uncut diamond from Africa, but Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz refused to say if the diamond was what the thieves were after.

40-year-old James Ferguson of Dorchester is scheduled to be arraigned on murder and burglary charges on Monday in Plymouth District Court.
Police have arrested a man accused of murdering another man earlier this month in Marshfield.
Cruz said police found McKenna in a pool of blood on September 16 after a friend went to check on him and called 911.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the slaying, but said the suspect once lived in Marshfield.
McKenna was found dead in his home due to severe cuts to his right upper arm, hands and back of his head.
“There was a massive loss of blood”, Cruz said.
Ferguson was a former resident of Marshfield, Cruz said, adding state and Marshfield police will not stop “looking to find out all perpetrators who may be involved in this event”.
Police said they were able to track Ferguson down after spotting his vehicle. Investigators described a “horrific” scene inside McKenna’s home on Damons Point Road.

DNA found on the items was matched to Ferguson using an Federal Bureau of Investigation database.
