Marshmallow is now nearly on 5% of all Android devices
On the single core of the LG G2 running a custom ROM of Android 6.0 Marshmallow the handset was around the same. However, it remains to be unknown whether the light will remain bright in the path of Marshmallow, especially now that Android N has already taken over with its hype.

Google has released its latest Android distribution figures and the latest version of their mobile OS, Android Marshmallow is now on 4.6 percent of devices.
There was some concern after two months of waiting that Sony and Google were going to leave this device behind. And with latest flagship smartphones coming shipped with Android Marshmallow out-of-the-box, its adoption has now doubled to 4.6 percent mark, compared to last month’s 2.3 percent.

The reason for the slow climb of Marshmallow up the Android food chain is a familiar one. The same is also happening with the monthly Android security updates. After Google creates a new version of its software, smartphone makers and then mobile carriers must test it before they cook up a rollout for each mobile device. As mentioned earlier, popular devices from the likes of Samsung, LG, HTC, Huawei, Xiaomi, Motorola and many others are just stepping into the Marshmallow niche and more will be shifting in the coming months. Android Lollipop (5.0 and 5.1) sits with highest market share of 35.6 percent, a negligible drop of 0.3 percent compared to last month. KitKat is right behind with a 33.4 percent slice, followed by Jelly Bean with 21.3 percent. Android Gingerbread (v2.3.3-2.3.7) and Android 2.2 Froyo’s device distribution shares are 2.6 percent (same as last month) and 0.1 percent (same as last month) respectively in the charts.
