Martin Luther King’s driver on life with a King
The civil rights leader’s birthday… Someone who knew Dr. King very well has made it his mission to keep his story alive.

A Central Illinois community marched in King’s honor Monday.
Sanders argued that King is not just a historic figure, but someone whose moral compass should guide people today.
“For the southerners who had resisted the Civil Rights movement, it was something they were quite bitter about”, Jacobs said while speaking about former U.S. Senator Jesse Helms’ opposition to the holiday.
Doctor King’s youngest daughter, Bernice King, will be the keynote speaker for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at UNCW this Friday at 7 p.m.in Kenan Auditorium.
“Dr. King said change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability but comes through continuous struggle and that struggle is ours it is all of ours”, said O’Malley.
The parade featured a marching band amongst the floats, all to celebrate Dr. King’s life and legacy.
“The flag is down but we are still here because that flag was just one piece of something bigger”, Clinton said.
Rountree says while social injustice is still around, Dr. King would be more upset with how African Americans treat one another.
The hope is that the students will take away the value in volunteering so that they can pave the way to a better tomorrow.
Once they arrived at TSU, a convocation honoring Dr. King and his ideals got underway.
Moore said that the organizations involved in this year’s day of service included “nonprofits [they’ve] worked with for MLK Day over the years, as well as organizations [they’re] establishing new relationships with”.
In Minneapolis, activists with the group Black Lives Matter planned to march onto a Mississippi River bridge that connects Minneapolis and St. Paul to protest what they say is the mistreatment of blacks by police.

“Maximize on what has been accomplished and we come together in unity to march”.
