Martin O’Malley to Suspend Presidential Campaign
Mr. O’Malley, 53, the former mayor of Baltimore and governor of Maryland, never seemed to gain traction in the small Democratic field, failing the capture the interest – let alone the hearts – of most voters.

While Clinton and Sanders were neck and neck throughout the night, O’Malley wallowed at a measly 0.5%, just barely edging out the “Uncommitted” candidate. Sanders’ appeal with liberals – and his online fundraising machine – gave O’Malley little room to become the face of the party’s smaller anti-Clinton wing. After an aggressive campaign that was heavy on retail politics, O’Malley walked onto the stage Monday night with less than 1 percent of the vote, prompting him to quickly bow out. His precinct captain, Pam Nystrom, said she’ll vote for Bernie Sanders, if she can’t manage to get enough voters to push Martin O’Malley over the threshold, confirms CNN.
“I congratulate my esteemed friends and opponents”.
Right now, O’Malley is telling his voters to “hold strong”, imploring them on social media, national television and in person to stick with him – at least at first. He is a great public servant. Bernie Sanders of Vermont – some said too careful.
Liz Garst, a prominent Coon Rapids Democrat, told Bloomberg View the caucus process favors Democrat Hillary Clinton.

“As early as October, there were reports of O’Malley becoming that guy we all sort of know who shows up at the party with a guitar and basically subjects others to a forcible serenade”.
Even before the caucuses began, Sanders was working to discount the importance of a Clinton edge coming out of Iowa, telling reporters that if the former secretary of state “ends up with two delegates more of many, many hundred delegates, you tell me why that’s the end of the world”.
“We have a strategy”, Bobo said. — Mike Huckabee ended his second campaign for the White House on Monday amid a dismal showing in the Iowa caucuses that he won in his first bid eight years ago. If that’s the case, Garst said she would reluctantly join the Clinton group.
Along the way, O’Malley’s campaign dealt with poor timing and some bad breaks.
“In a tough, unprecedented year, O’Malley spent more time in Iowa than any other candidate and remained the most accessible”, a source close to O’Malley said.

For Democrats, part of the process of the Iowa Caucus involves moving to areas designated in the precinct for each candidate.
