Martinsburg residents protest Betsy DeVos’ nomination for Secretary of Education
Yes, two Senate Republicans have come out against DeVos – the only two who routinely get A’s on the National Education Association’s “report card” because they vote the union line. Deb Fischer’s office to protest her support of President Trump’s pick for Secretary of Education. Liberal Democrats have vocally opposed DeVos’ nomination and turned it into a referendum on allowing tax dollars to be spent on scholarships for students to attend religiously affiliated schools.

Murkowski said DeVos “has been so involved in one side of the equation – so immersed in the push for vouchers – that she may be unaware of what actually is successful in the public schools, and what is broken, or how to fix them”. Capito’s office with calls and emails without response. “I think probably there, I would imagine that there’s probably a gun in the school to protect from potential grizzlies”, DeVos said. A final vote is expected as early as Monday.
Why is the radical left so full of rage and hate? DeVos wants low-income kids to have the same choices that liberal elitists have for their families. “The privatization of education puts money above kids”.
The opposition to DeVos’ nomination is unprecedented, as a sitting vice president has never been required to break a tie over a Cabinet nomination. “This statement betrays the commitment of thousands of public school teachers who work hard every day in our public schools, many in tough working conditions, to ensure our children are educated”. “I look forward to working with her to improve our K-12 public education system, make college more affordable, stand up for children with disabilities, and close the skills gap by promoting Career and Technical Education to give young people more opportunities to succeed”, Mr. Portman said. Her apparent tack (that how IDEA’s requirements are fulfilled in schools might be a state-by-state issue) is as puzzling as it is nebulous. The needs facing rural schools in West Virginia are unique and her lack of exposure to public education is very concerning for me.
He would also challenge Devos to spend 24 hours with a teacher.
The demonstration took place in Charleston, outside of Sen.
Democratic Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) voiced his concern stating, “She failed to meet three requirements I consider essential to serving as Secretary of Education – someone who is pro-public schools, pro-accountability and pro-civil rights”.
There were protests in Kansas by teachers, parents and others urging Sen.
But the tongue-in-cheek GoFundMe campaign called “Buy Pat Toomey’s vote” will go toward the next best thing: funding arts and education programs. He said he wouldn’t.
It’s unlikely that a $60,000-plus fundraising campaign will sway the Pennsylvania senator.
As of 6 p.m. Saturday, more than 3,975 people had donated $66,387.
“She’s never served as a teacher, she’s never been an administrator in schools …” That fictitious grizzly is about as qualified as Ms. DeVos to run the Department of Education.
Sen. Chris Murphy hadn’t meant to ask Betsy DeVos about guns.
“I believe our children are insulted by this nomination”, Cline said.
It is the kind of vote that will be used against Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio). That battle begins as soon as she’s confirmed. She has spent more than two decades advocating for charter schools in her home state of MI and elsewhere around the country.
Alas, it didn’t get through, but the office saw the pizza order after she posted it on Twitter, the newspaper said.
In her brief and previous tenure at The New York Times, Goldstein has focused exclusively on reporting the DeVos hearings. But after meeting with DeVos and watching her answer questions at her confirmation hearing, I do not believe she has the qualifications to be the Secretary of Education.

“In six months to a year, no one will remember her confirmation”, McClusky predicted.
