The country’s largest passenger auto manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL), on Friday released the sketch of its much awaited compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) to be called the “Vitara Brezza”. Maruti will not be taking any chances with the new Vitara Brezza SUV and unlike the Baleno or the S-Cross will be sold via Maruti’s regular dealerships.

MSI has already stated that starting with the compact SUV, it will pay royalty to its parent Suzuki in rupee instead of yen for all new models.

The compact SUV is expected to be positioned between the i20 Active and Creta.

Vitara Brezza is among the new line of vehicles in which engineers from Maruti have made a bigger contribution.

Speaking about safety features, considering the recent updates from Maruti Suzuki, where the company has started offering Airbags and ABS across variants in more products of theirs, Brezza is expected to get dual airbags and ABS as standard across all variants. The vehicle is likely to be available in a front-wheel drive configuration only. Moreover, it is also speculated that the company might also introduce MJD engine that also powers the Ciaz sedan. Its competition includes the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300. The vehicle maker confirmed its reveal for the Auto Expo 2016, and said that the market launch will take place a few weeks after the biennial event. Even though it is a compact SUV the model will look aerodynamic.
