Maruti Suzuki records highest domestic sales in July 2016
The contraction in the entry-level models dragged down company’s overall passenger auto sales advancing only 2.2% to 93,634 units over the same period previous year.

Together with exports, the carmaker has sold a total of 137,116 units in July 2016, growing 12.7 % over July 2015 (121,712 units).
July was the highest ever monthly sales for the company, which accounts for nearly one of every two vehicles sold in the country.
The company said sales of the compact segment comprising Swift, Estilo, Ritz, Dzire and Baleno increased by 4.1 per cent to 50,362 units in July this year, as against 48,381 units in the corresponding month last year. The stylish hatchback now has a waiting period of over 6 months.
Maruti Suzuki’s Exports saw a marginal increase by 0.3 per cent in July 2016 by exporting 11,338 units but overall exports this Financial year from April-July 2016 saw a major decline by -20.2 per cent by exporting 37,441 units as compared to 46,942 units in April-July 2015.

The Vitara Brezza continued the strong volume run catapulting the utility vehicle sales to 17,382 units against 6,916 units a year ago. As many as 5,162 units were sold during the month. Expect the Vitara Brezza, which was launched in March 2016 and continues to have a longish waiting period, to have contributed the big number in the July sales for this lot.

The company’s new light commercial vehicle Super Carry, which entered markets of Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Ludhiana last month, has sold 14 units. It will also be readying stock for the festive season which is barely three months away.
