Somewhat inevitably, Marvel avoided the DC/Warner Bros route of releasing their Comic Con footage to the wider public, but we do have some juicy information on the film’s on show there.

The film, described as John Hughes-esque, has already begun filming the story of Spider-Man navigating the waters of high school and the superhero world. Starting with a montage that shows the high school yearbook photos of the Avengers, it transitions, 80s teen movie style, to Holland’s Peter Parker and his life at fictional Midtown High School. Cut back to Peter not being able to respond to the high school girl, who says she was just messing with him. However, Slash Film has gotten to watch the Spider-Man: Homecoming clip and released a transcript of what went on in the video. First up – 9:30 – Science class, where he’s definitively not paying attention, instead watching himself swing around Giant Man’s legs in footage from Civil War’s climactic airport sequence. Something to the effect of every hero has a beginning, and clearly Spider-Man got an early start. Holland also starred as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, and was more of a “sarcastic, amusing high-schooler who looks up to Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) as sort of a father figure”. Peter is also being raised by his Aunt May, played by Marisa Tomei.

Michael Keaton was rumored to play The Vulture in the film, and some casting reports suggest that the film will feature multiple villains. In a post from Entertainment Weekly, it was discovered that Zendaya will be playing a character named Michelle. The scene quickly cuts to Peter and his friend doing an elaborate secret handshake, and finally, the capper at the end, we see vulture soaring down.
