Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ Will Set Up ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ Says Kevin Feige
Feige also said the Black Panther character is important because of his influence on the upcoming Avengers films, Infinity War Parts 1 and 2.

Before landing on the 29-year-old director, Marvel had been courting Selma‘s Ava DuVernay, but she declined the offer since it “wasn’t going to be an Ava DuVernay film”.
Black Panther is set to make his big screen debut next year in Captain America: Civil War, before Chadwick Boseman reprises the role of T’Challa for the 2018 solo movie.
Speaking to Empire, Feige is rather blunt in letting you know how much this film will matter in the grand scheme of things.
“The one is important”.
Indeed, Black Panther sounds like an exciting amalgam of Shakespearean tragedy, global politics and pure action that seems to take a spin on the unconventional narrative approach that was so successful for Kenneth Branagh with the first Thor back in 2011. The legendary Marvel character that is widely credited as being the first major superhero of color will join that film’s frenetic, ideologically-motivated melee to whet the appetite of fans for his impending starring debut in 2018. In discussing what kind of film they would be making, Feigie commented by saying Black Panther would be a “big geopolitical action adventure”.

I, for one, am curious to see how the geo-political plot of Black Panther will somehow lead into the “ermahgerd-the-fate-of-the-whole-wide-universe-hangs-in-the-balance” (and in the hands of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes) storyline of Avengers: Infinity War. Ryan Coogler has the talent to tell a truly dramatic story with emotional weight and beautifully written characters, which is more than enough reason to bring him on board. That’s it. No confirmation of Ryan Coogler directing, no mention of his ongoing talks, nada.
