Marvel Taps Ta-nehisi Coates For ‘Black Panther’ Recap Series
With Black Panther one of the biggest comics hit in years, Marvel is hoping to keep the momentum going by taking a page out of the Hollywood marketing playbook. While the title of Black Panther is something passed on to each successive ruler of Wakanda, the major tweaks for the movie seem to have more to do with the death of the current king and what this ultimately means in regards to T’Challa’s title (king versus prince) for at least a short time. Some fans even cried on the set of Civil Warthe first time they saw Boseman as Black Panther.

Unlike most other superheroes who take off their costumes and gear and are regular people (for the most part), T’Challa is a member of the royal family. Marvel continues the excitement surrounding Marvel’s celebrated Super Hero T’Challa, the Black Panther, through a groundbreaking hip-hop inspired video series. The “Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet” videos will educate new and old fans about Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Black Panther series through commentary from Mr. Coates, motion graphics, as well as an elevating hip-hop score from some of the world’s largest hip-hop acts. “There was an interior arc to the character that I sort of instantly connected with since I started reading.I felt like a strong sense of responsibility, and I take that very seriously”.
“After decades of great work done on Black Panther – everyone from Reginald Hudlin to Don McGregor to Christopher Priest – it really is an honor to be writing King T’Challa”, says Coates.
The first job of the king is to protect the nation.
One of the characters that fans will get introduced to during Captain America: Civil War is Black Panther.
This is the first film to feature Boseman’s character as the Black Panther, who Stan joked was “too angry”.

Captain America: Civil War hits USA theaters on Friday, May 6. Fortunately, Marvel Studios handles the Black Panther’s debut exceptionally, when a conflict between teams led by Iron Man and Captain America gives the Black Panther a reason to leave his Wakandan borders. Meanwhile, the Black Panther solo film is slated for release on July 6, 2018.
