Word is there’s a big buzz at the BBC as talks turn to a new rival show.
Charlotte Moore, director of BBC content, welcomed Ms Berry’s decision, which comes after days of speculation about whether she will move.
Perkins and Giedroyc released a statement on September 13. stating that they would not be “going with the dough” and would no longer appear on the show.
Berry said she wishes the Bake Off team well, adding, “I am so very sad not to be a part of it”.
What has Paul done, eh?
Berry’s fellow judge Paul Hollywood has not yet commented on whether he will be making the move to Channel 4.
A Channel 4 executive sought to calm everyone down by saying, “Paul really is the star baker”. His wit, warmth and wisdom are vital ingredients in Bake Off’s success.’ She must very much hope that is true. So, without the personalities, what exactly is Channel 4 getting?
Mary Berry is leaving the Great British Bake Off. The seven series inside the tent have created some great memories.
The BBC is believed to have offered Love Productions £15 million a year to keep the programme, but that is reported to have fallen £10 million short.
Hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins have also refused to make the move from the BBC to Channel 4.
Left to his own devices, Paul Hollywood insists that only bread will be baked on the show.
Or can they learn from Auntie’s mistakes?
“A few pots and pans”, says a parody Mary Berry account.
Danny Baker then sent social media into a frenzy when he tweeted what appeared to be a contract from Love Productions – the company behind the Bake Off. We are most definitely not ready for change.

Mary’s decision follows in the footsteps of the show’s presenters, Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, who announced last week that they planned to bow out in a display of support for the BBC, who nurtured the show from the start. After tasting 2014 finalist Luis Troyano’s rum-laced doughnuts, she pulled a delighted face and said, “I mean, why are we bothering with the doughnuts?”
