“The motive of the shooting/murders is uncertain but the investigation by the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team confirmed it was planned”, a lengthy report into the shooting concludes. His trail is set for September 21.
Gabby Soriano, 11, is embraced by her mother, Gay, as the visit a memorial to the school shooting victims.
The lengthy report is expected to detail what led up to the October. 24, 2014, shooting inside the school’s cafeteria.
One student reported he spoke with Fryberg after the fight and the teen said the other player had made a racist comment.
Fryberg started the bloodbath at the Marysville-Pilchuck High School, some 30 miles north of Seattle, last October during a lunch break. Gia Soriano and Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, both, 14, and 15-year-old Andrew Fryberg – the gunman’s cousin – died later at a hospital. All were shot in the head. Nate Hatch was shot in the jaw, but survived.
Four teenagers died, including a cousin of Fryberg.
Moments before the shooting, Jaylen Fryberg texted more than a dozen relatives, describing what he wanted to wear at his funeral and who should get his personal possessions, and apologising for the attack, according to a detective’s search-warrant affidavit. Hopefully you regret not talking to me. “I needed to do this tho…I wasn’t happy”, he said minutes before the incident. “But I needed my ride or dies with me on the other side… I’m sorry I love you”.
A girl told police that Fryberg encouraged his friends to skip class and join him in the cafeteria, where they all sat around a table.
Another student said Fryberg’s girlfriend had broken up with him the day before ‘and thought that may have pushed Fryberg over the edge, ‘ the report said.
The investigation did reveal some troubles Fryberg, who was a popular student, was having at school.
Until the release, Deutscher said they’re reviewing the school’s policies on discipline and bullying to determine if there may have been any warnings that went unnoticed, or were ignored.
“If you can imagine or not, as parent, emotionally, to be standing next to a bed and to not be able to even tell whether this is your daughter or not”, Deutscher said. But she said it’s unclear if he was ever disciplined. However, that will not include the records subject to the restraining order.
In a statement, the Marysville School District disputed accusations that it has been uncooperative. “Her friends were killed”, Ahearne told The Seattle Times. A hearing on that matter is scheduled for Thursday.
