A 64-year-old East Longmeadow man was arrested last week on a fugitive from justice warrant issued by the Wallingford, Connecticut, police in connection with a July 2 stabbing that left a man seriously injured.
Police said the man stabbed him back in self-defense.
While they tried to get away, the victims sustained additional stabbing wounds in the abdomen, legs and buttocks. During the attack the man managed to also stab Hoffman in the leg, which caused Hoffman to retreat and flee the residence.
Colavolpe said Hoffman waived extradition and the Wallingford Police Department took custody of him on Monday, Aug. 29, and transported him back to CT.

Hoffman was charged with first-degree criminal attempt to commit assault and second-degree assault, and was held in lieu of $50,000 bond pending arraignment Tuesday at Superior Court in Meriden. When the victims went to sleep, they were awakened by Hoffman stabbing them in the buttocks, police said. “Both subjects received non-life threatening injuries and were treated at Yale New Haven Hospital”.
