(Vatican Radio) The celebration of the life and sanctity of Mother Teresa of Calcutta will continue in Rome in the days following her canonization on Sunday. Pope Francis presented Mother Teresa’s opposition to abortion and her dedication to the poor as facets of a single mission.
In his column in the Archdiocese’s publication Angelus News, Gomez called Mother Teresa “one of my favorite saints”.
To honour Saint Teresa of Calcutta on her 19th death anniversary, a rally will be taken out on Monday from St. Teresa Church in Moulali. A man had a tumor and the doctor said there’s nothing else I can do for him.
While big, the crowd attending the canonization wasn’t even half of the 300,000 who turned out for Mother Teresa’s 2003 beatification celebrated by an ailing St. John Paul II. She said at the time, she didn’t know how popular Mother Teresa was across the globe.
“Let us carry her smile in our hearts and give it to those whom we meet along our journey, especially those who suffer”, Francis said in his homily.
Christina herself might be a Catholic, but people from across all religions stopped by to hear her story and marvelled at what looks like the third miracle performed by Saint Teresa.
Her husband, Greg Jaworowski, said he took part in World Youth Day in Poland this year. In 1979 she won the Nobel Peace Prize for “work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress in the world, which also constitutes a threat to peace”. “Can you imagine living your life and never asking more than just another breath to help somebody?” The non-Catholics, the Hindus, they call her “the living saint”. “I was thinking, Mother used to say “I’m a little pencil in God’s hand” and this Mother is giving great glory to God through her works of love”.

“I saw a spark of light emerge from mother’s photo and reflect on my tumor”, says Monica Besra, cured by Mother Teresa. Speaking about Mother Teresa, the pope at Vatican, said: “She bowed down before those who were spent, left to die on the side of the road, seeing in them their God-given dignity”.
