Massive inferno breaks out at garment factory in Bhiwandi

Four fire engines from Bhiwandi have been sent to the area.

A garment factory in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra caught fire on Tuesday with several people feared trapped. There have been no reports of any casualties in the inferno till now.

Five fire tenders are at the spot and attempts are being made to douse the fire.

After the fire spread far and wide, people have now moved to the terrace of the building.

Over 80 people are feared to be trapped inside the four-storey building.

The lower end of the building houses a garment factory which is also on fire. The fire officials first used ladders and then cranes to rescue the stranded people.

The fire is spreading across the floors.

Once the cooling operations are through, those trapped in the building would be brought down, Gaikwad said. They were later rescued by fire officials with the help of locals.
