As for the Masters of the Universe reboot itself, not too much is known about the plot beyond what the franchise’s animated and cinematic adventures of the past have shown us already.

Christopher Yost, the screenwriter behind Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World and the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, is set to help Sony relise their long-gestating reboot of 80’s toyline/cartoon/film Masters of the Universe, reports Variety.

Yost seems like the flawless fit given his work in the similarly fantastical realm of Asgard, and it’s not unusual for Sony to go through so many writers on a potential blockbuster like this, especially since they’ll really need to get this one right. The previous drafts of the script are said to have been written by Terry Rossio and Jeff Wadlow. Fighting alongside Battle Cat, The Sorceress, Teela, Man-at-Arms and Orko, He-Man attempts to stop his arch-nemesis Skeletor from conquering Castle Grayskull and uncovering the mystical secrets – and power – within. Mr. Franklin has been pretty generous with fans on social media, occasionally responding to queries about the status of the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe live-action movie with updates and images. Since then, multiple iterations of the character have been seen in animation series. Frank Langella played the role of the main villain, and the movie also featured Meg Foster as Evil-Lyn.
