Swansea did press for an immediate equaliser but found Cech in the way once more and their chances of getting a point virtually disappeared with a little over 20 minutes to go.

“I don t talk about that too much”.

“It was a different game after we scored the first goal”. It s always a hard game against Swansea. We have a bit of difference with a few teams. They do have the likes of Cazorla, Sanchez and Ozil to return though who are the main outlets of quality in the Gunners team.

Hartson, who played for the Gunners from 1995-1997, was impressed with Wenger’s side’s display against his hometown club, but the Welshman feels that they are still a couple of players short of landing their first league title since 2004.

“In the first half especially we were the better team, playing good football and creating good chances”.

In the other game, Kelechi Iheanacho is handed is first start as Man City entertain Norwich.

“I’m very happy”, he told Arsenal Player.

There were a lot of strong individual performances for Arsenal today, but the player of the game award deserves to go to Olivier Giroud.

They are joint-top in the Premier League on points, a slot below Manchester City on goal differential.

“I am proud of scoring goals because people like to come and see that”.

There was controversy with Arsenal’s second goal, scored by Laurent Koscielny after 68 minutes.

Wenger refused to rule out entering the transfer market in January but said it would not be necessary if all players were fit. It was result that ended a run of five Premier League matches without a win, which had even led to the future of manager Garry Monk being called into question. But the referee decided it wasn t.

With Aaron Ramsey, Tomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck and Mikel Arteta already ruled out, it means Arsenal are short of options for a crucial period which sees also them also take on Bayern Munich and Tottenham over the next 10 days. We were aggressive, on the front foot and it s important that we take that from the game.

“We have to show that type of appetite in every game we play. Our technical level took over in the second half, we upped our pace as well and from then on it was more hard for them”.
