Grujic came to the fore playing a vital role in Serbia under-20’s World Cup success in New Zealand this summer.
Celtic, Anderlecht, Stuttgart, Roma and Ajax were also watching him, and the club want £4.5 million for Grujic (as per the report).
Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has said he could quit worldwide football if the attitude of a few of his Serbia teammates does not improve.
Speaking to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Grujic said: “Nemanja Matic is a friend, he plays for Serbia and has played for Chelsea for over a year”.
He added: “I told our coach [Radovan Curcic] there is no point in me carrying on with the national team if things don’t change. He called me three weeks ago”, Grujic is quoted as saying by 101greatgoals.com. “He has told me that they want me”.
“However, in the immediate future, I prefer to stay at Red Star”, he continued, “until the end of the season, in order to win the title”.
Premier League side Everton are the latest team to make enquiries however, with Grujic impressing since breaking through the Red Star Belgrade academy.
