Matt Albers Makes History in White Sox Win
According to Christopher Kamka of Comcast SportsNet Chicago, Albers is the first White Sox pitcher to score the game-winning run and earn a win in extra innings since Bob Locker accomplished the feat in August of 1966.

Todd Frazier’s two-run drive in the sixth was his 16th homer this season, and the White Sox got four innings of scoreless relief from their own beleaguered bullpen to win for just the fifth time in 20 games. Overall, deGrom struck out ten, walked two, and allowed five hits. After striking out Frazier in their previous meeting, deGrom led off the seventh by leaving a low changeup a little too high, allowing the White Sox slugger to smash a shot to left field for his 17th home run of the season.
“I was thinking about sliding and then I was like ‘I’m not sure I can do this, ‘ ” Albers said.
Chicago White Sox’s Todd Frazier trots the bases after hitting a solo home run off New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom during the seventh inning of a baseball game, Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in New York.
Somehow, it doesn’t feel like the Mets will be forgetting this one any time soon.
The victory was the Sox’ second in a row and gave them their first series win in their last seven. He took a called third strike when he pinch hit in the ninth inning and has one hit in his last 24 at-bats. “Getting the win, I mean, it’s a boost of morale”.
“I’ve always wanted to be in a winning atmosphere”, he said. “I wore a different jersey”, Robertson said.
Albers immediately knew he’d hit after he retired James Loney on a groundout to end the 12th. He was deceptive. He was the ace everyone remembers, a star as dominant as ever – except on one pitch.
“They’ve got a pretty good seventh-inning guy”, Ventura said with a smile.
White Sox: OF Austin Jackson missed the series because of turf toe in his left foot, but White Sox manager Robin Ventura said he should be able to play this weekend.
Heading into the game, Albers was a.059 hitter with only two big league hits.
ROYALS 6, RAYS 3: Danny Duffy pitched six effective innings – his longest outing since moving to the rotation on May 15 – and rookie Whit Merrifield had two hits and scored a run as Kansas City completed a 6-0 homestand.
Of course, deGrom wasn’t helped by the Mets’ failure to convert with the bases loaded in the sixth after reliever Dan Jennings allowed a two-out single to Juan Legares and then walked Ty Kelly.
Though the right-hander has never faced the Mets, Yoenis Cespedes is 6 for 13 against him. Each followed an error by Frazier at third base in the first two innings. The White Sox stepped up their game on Tuesday and Wednesday, fighting back from four and one-run deficits in the games, respectively.

Robles threw a couple of warmup pitches, and Collins pointed to the bullpen with his right arm. We’ve just got to minimize the damage. We have an off day (Thursday).
