Matt Brown Injured, Out of Bout Against Kelvin Gastelum
After Matt Brown had to withdraw due to injury on Monday, it took less than 24 hours for Neil Magny to step in to keep Kelvin Gastelum in the UFC Fight Night 78 main event on November 21 in Monterrey, Mexico.

The injury isn’t severe, so Brown won’t be out of action for too long, but with the event only a few weeks away there just wasn’t enough time for him to recover and get back to full fitness. “I apologize to Kelvin Gastelum and hope the best for him”.
FOX Sports was the first to report the news of the UFC veteran dropping out of the fight with Gastelum. Prior to this setback, “The Immortal” dropped two straight decision to current and former champions Robbie Lawler, and Johny Hendricks in title-eliminators after going on an unprecedented seven-fight win streak which included six-finishes by (T)KO. Brown is easily one of the most exciting fighters on the planet, earning five post-fight bonuses in his lengthy career.
The bout was scheduled to headline the finale of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2, which will air in the United States on Fox Sports 1.

Woodley was slated to fight Gastelum before, but Gastelum was 10-pounds overweight for the contest. Gastelum went on to win the show and has accumulated a 6-1 UFC record. After missing weight by 10 pounds and then losing to Tyron Woodley in what was supposed to be a 170-pound bout, Gastelum had no choice but to take his next fight at middleweight.
