The upcoming movie, “The Martian“, which is directed by the award-winning director and producer Ridley Scott, is gaining various positive comments after the movie premiere in Toronto.
When Weir finally got to see a cut of the film he could barely hold back the tears, he told a press conference hours before the movie’s premiere at TIFF on Sept. 11. Honestly, how I felt the nominations would go didn’t necessarily reflect that, but rather what I thought the ideal performance of this interesting title could be.
This is when Damon interrupted her, saying, “When we’re talking about diversity, you do it in the casting of the film, not in the casting of the show”. Dr. Green said he was excited to be involved in the film because “this kind of scenario, a planned mission to Mars, can happen within our lifetime”.
But given the film’s release date and pedigree-despite Scott’s recent output-many have wondered if The Martian could be “an Oscar movie”.
“This is a very real film, in my opinion”. I think both are great. I would love to do that. It could be a player in Best Picture, Best Director (for Scott), Best Actor (for Damon), Best Supporting Actor (for Daniels, Ejiofor, Glover, or Pena), Best Supporting Actress (for Chastain or Wiig), Best Adapted Screenplay (for Goddard), Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Original Score, and Best Visual Effects.
“The reaction for me, compared to those other three movies was a sense of relief that it worked”, Daniels said.

“It’s a really optimistic and hopeful movie, and sometimes our job is to put something like that out during really tough times”.
