Matt Damon Mercilessly Mocks Jimmy Kimmel’s Emmy Loss

If he does win this would be Kimmel’s first Primetime Emmy award although he did win a Daytime Emmy Award back in 1999 for Outstanding Game Show Host on Win Ben Stein’s Money.

Then Kimmel used his opening monologue to pick on “Apprentice” creator and co-producer Mark Burnett, saying he was the reason Trump was running. Once again, the country is gearing up for a kooky campaign season … but the current battle between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton makes the 2012 face-off between Mitt and Barack feel way more tame than we remember it.

After Last Week Tonight won best variety talk series at the Emmys, Matt Damon came out on stage carrying an apple to rub Jimmy Kimmel’s loss in his face.

Director Jill Soloway brought the fieriest condemnation of Trump, calling him a “complete risky monster” and an “inheritor to Hitler” backstage after her win for Best Director in a Comedy Series for Amazon’s “Transparent”.

“Yeah, I’m a little disappointed”, Kimmel admitted.

Pointing out who Sarah Paulson had brought as her date – prosecutor Marcia Clark, the woman she plays in the show – Kimmel couldn’t resist a dig: “Everyone in LA knows, if you wanna win, sit next to Marcia Clark”. This is the fifth time Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been nominated and it’d be awesome if this year was the year Kimmel won. A lot has changed in the past four years which makes us wonder if the late night host might dip into some previously used jokes for the occasion.

She goes to other award shows! Just in the opening sketch, Kimmel also joked that, “We don’t have to watch reality shows anymore, because we’re living in one”. Rami Malek knocked off some powerhouses to win lead actor in a drama for Mr. Robot and had one of the lines of the night quoting his show to inquire, “Please tell me you’re seeing this, too”.

“Topple the patriarchy”, yelled repeat victor Jill Soloway at the end of her acceptance speech as outstanding comedy director for Transparent, and that felt like a running theme in the show.

This year she had a Sunday ceramics class she couldn’t get out of.

Backstage, things got even more specific, and harsh. But in recent years, the Emmys have been caught trying to preserve their good-times rep while coming to terms with the growing importance of their medium.
