Matt Damon recaps Jason Bourne franchise in 90 seconds

Jason Bourne reunites Damon with The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum director Paul Greengrass in a film set 12 years after the events of the latter film. The film also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel, and Riz Ahmed.

Following mid-July premiere screenings in the UK, France and USA, Jason Bourne follows on from a July 27 debut in the UK, Ireland, South Korea and the Philippines with global openings throughout the week: from July 28 in Brazil, Hong Kong, Israel, the Netherlands, Singapore and more, and from July 29 in the U.S. and Canada, Spain, Vietnam and others. The first film adaptation of the Robert Ludlum books, “The Bourne Identity”, was released in 2002.

When Matt Damon’s titular human war machine swam away into the depths of the Hudson at the sobering conclusion of 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum, so did the franchise, and for good reason. Frank Marshall again produces alongside Jeffrey Weiner for Captivate Entertainment, and Greengrass, Damon, Gregory Goodman and Ben Smith also produce.

“It’s a role that’s given me so much”, Damon acknowledges, but he’s looking forward to some time off. “I’ve done four straight movies and I have one more to go … but I’m excited to finish out this year at work and take a year off”. This life is disrupted, however, when Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles) comes back into his world, having hacked into the Central Intelligence Agency and discovered something new and important about the Treadstone program: it was actually created by Jason Bourne’s father (bum bum BUM!).
