Matt Damon’s The Martian dominates the weekend box office with whopping $55
NASA has always been proud of it’s heritage – and in particular it’s record of never having lost an astronaut to the vast expanses of space.

Master director Ridley Scott delivers an epic big screen adaptation of the bestselling novel by Andy Weir. The story follows American astronaut Mark Watney-played by Matt Damon-and his crew, as they leave Watney for dead on the red planet. “The Martian” has relished realistic scientific problem solving and has shown NASA’s spirit of exploration.
However, in the hands of “The Cabin in the Woods” writer Drew Goddard and legendary director Ridley Scott, “The Martian” is a satisfying adaptation that perfectly translates its source material’s complicated story, myriad of characters, wit and, most importantly, thrills.
“We also try to kill all the bacteria on these probes so that we don’t wind up… embarrassingly discovering life on Mars only to realise that it’s our own dirty fingerprints”, added Conley. Scott knows his way around directing space flicks (“Alien” “Prometheus”) but “The Martian” exceeds expectations. Yeah, that one. So more recently, people haven’t been liking his movies, but I’m sure this will turn the tides.
Through stunning visual effects and spectacular imagery, the audience gleans a feel for what it’s like on Mars and in outer space. The Democratic presidential candidate also took shots at Republican contender Donald Trump, deepening her voice in imitation of one of his pointed pronouncements. “Maybe he was just faking it really well (but he) seemed just as excited as we did when were doing the scenes floating through the air”.
As reported by CNN, the movie is about a stranded astronaut’s survival. The props were so convincing, they could nearly replace NASA technology. Believe it or not but around 50 pages of script data was provided by NASA. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of worldwide scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. If ever there was a prime example to point young actors to on how to “act like you aren’t acting”, it’s definitely Damon’s performance in this film. His latest film, “The Martian”, is quite refreshing in that it in no way, shape or form appears to be pushing any sort of ideological agenda. Chief among them is that he generally makes movies with a left-wing parable about one thing or another. We were laughing with you, and there’s probably nothing more human than that.

Overseas, the film is performing strongly, grossing $45.2 million from 49 markets, including such major territories as the United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, and Mexico.
