“We love (Bourne) just as much as everybody else”, Damon says, “and we were leery of putting the cart before the horse and making another Bourne movie before we were ready with a good story-it was a case of waiting for the world to change a bit”.

The wage Matt Damon earned from a movie job Tommy Lee Jones gave him allowed the actor to write his first hit film.
But they’re still impressively solid scenes nonetheless – particularly a climactic auto chase along the Vegas Strip – and definitely make the movie well worth a watch just as an action film in its own right.

He spoke to Kate Rodger about what it took to come back to the Bourne fray, how lucky they were to get Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander on board for this sequel, and why Tommy Lee Jones is a national treasure.

She dispatches a hitman, codename Asset (Vincent Cassel), to neutralise the targets. Jason Bourne is a deceptive slow burn for the opening half-hour, but once the script lights the fuse on manifold deceptions, there’s little time to breathe between plot revelations and bloodthirsty retribution.
