Matt Dawson’s ‘Hakarena’ has managed to annoy just about everyone
An advert starring England rugby legend Matt Dawson which mocks the New Zealand traditional dance, the haka, by mixing it with 1990s hit the “Macarena” has sparked controversy ahead of this month’s tournament in London.

We can’t decide whether to be more amused by the dodgy dancing or the fact they think the all-Blacks are all that stand between England and winning the tournament.
He told the New Zealand Herald: “The haka is done as a way of honouring the enemy”.
An English rugby video depicting the All Blacks haka as the “hakarena” has been labelled “distasteful and ignorant”.
“England have an wonderful chance to be crowned world champions but there’s a major obstacle – the All Blacks”, Dawson said to start the video.
“The current world champions are in fantastic form with awesome power, strength, depth and one secret weapon – the Haka”, Dawson said.
No, us neither. But someone in England thought about it, and they’ve got one now.
Bailey said: “We responded to a request on social media to get involved and it was great fun”. They think they’ve won the game before a ball has even been kicked. “You don’t do it in those sorts of circumstances – you do it if you’re up for a challenge”.

It follows a scathing outburst from former All Black Ali Williams who said it will be “a dark day” if hosts England win the World Cup and he described their home ground Twickenham as “the most hostile stadium there is”. ‘To actually mimic it and deliberately bring it into ridicule is, to me, insulting.
