Matz is now on a six-game winning streak, while Roark will attempt to start his first winning streak of the season in this one.

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg throws during the first inning of a baseball game against the New York Mets at Nationals Park, Tuesday, May 24, 2016, in Washington. The next batter was Rene Rivera, who singled home Matt Reynolds with the game’s second, and final run.
With Harper walking to the plate as the potential tying run for the Nationals, Mets manager Terry Collins stayed with Matz. The heart of the lineup took care of that.
NY slugger Lucas Duda was ruled out for four to six weeks with a stress fracture in his back, but his teammates showed against the Nationals that they have the power to replace him.
DETROIT – Justin Verlander blanked Philadelphia on three hits over eight innings, Francisco Rodriguez let in a run but still recorded his 400th career save and Miguel Cabrera drove in two runs with a double plus a groundout in Detroit’s win.
ROYALS 7, TWINS 4: Salvador Perez hit a two-run homer, Lorenzo Cain had four hits and two RBI as Kansas City topped host Minnesota.
Harvey stumbled through a third straight ineffective start. But after getting lit up by the Nationals for the second outing in a row on Tuesday, it marked the first time that Harvey didn’t speak because of a poor performance.
Expect to hear something from the Mets in the coming days. “With that being said, I think the consensus is we should all be accountable for what we do on the baseball field”. “Obviously, the first step in that is that you’ve got to see some results, you’ve got to see some production (so) you can get that consistency”.
In his last three starts, Harvey has surrendered 19 runs (16 earned) on 27 hits in 13 1/3 innings to raise his ERA 6.08. Matz picked up his seventh consecutive victory by tossing eight shutout innings, allowing only four hits and one walk while striking out seven. Harvey worked his way through the early innings easily, then once again appeared lethargic on the mound.
Harvey’s defeat marked the sixth loss in seven games for the Amazins dropping them to third place and 2 ½ games back.
“It was just unfortunate I was flat today”, Gonzalez said. “I am not going to swing'”. After making one bad start to begin the season and missing one start with an injury scare, the Mets lefty has won seven straight starts.
Blue Jays 8, Yankees 4 • In New York, Russell Martin hit his first two home runs of the season, Michael Saunders also went deep and Toronto finally broke out its big bats, halting New York’s six-game winning streak. Gonzalez’s ERA rose from 1.86 to 2.87. “I misplayed another ground ball, which just needs to stop happening”.
Matz isn’t overpowering, but he throws four pitches well. You tip your cap.
“We’ve matched up good against them and they’ve matched up good against us”, Baker said.
But the callers on WFAN are already all over him, wondering what’s wrong- if it’s his weight or his nightlife habits, or even his velocity, which Nats star Bryce Harper said was checking it at 91-93 miles per hour instead of 95-98.

“I’m not giving up on him”, Collins told reporters in Washington, about a half-hour after he summoned Harvey to his office along with pitching coach Dan Warthen.
