Matt Hasselbeck: Hasselbeck not sure he’ll be ready Week 14

The Indianapolis Colts were no match for the passing attack of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the team was blown out 45-10 on Sunday Night Football. In 2011 it was Kerry Collins, Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky. If Hasselbeck is unable to play in Jacksonville on Sunday Whitehurst would likely make the 10 start of his career.

Martavis Bryant hauled in four passes for 114 yards and a score, and DeAngelo Williams added 134 yards rushing as Pittsburgh shook off a slow start to dominate the Colts (6-6) over the final three quarters.

“I was full of excitement”, he said. “We knew it was coming and we didn’t handle it and they would just rush three”. They did a really nice job of keeping me off balance. We feel like we’ve been battle-tested, so I think we’re primed and ready to play a team like this. That run ended abruptly when Roethlisberger went off and Hasselbeck exited in the fourth quarter with neck and shoulder pain. He underwent an MRI exam after the game.

The next update on Hasselbeck should come on Monday afternoon when Pagano has his normal day after a game media availability session.

Pagano also described left tackle Luck, Anthony Castonzo (knee) and linebacker Jerrell Freeman (hamstring) as week-to-week. Ian Rapaport of NFL.com reported Colts owner Jim Irsay expects Luck to be back for either Week 15 against Houston or Week 16 at Miami.

“They blocked better than we rushed, ” Pagano said. They kicked our ass. We had the fumble recovery on the kickoff and turned the ball over without getting any points.

“I didn’t see it, but I’m sure we’ll rehash it and rehash it 1,000 times in the next six days and suck all the life out of it”, Tomlin said.

Or maybe here is when you got the idea this wasn’t going to be the Colts’ night: Twice in the red zone, the Colts got called for delay of game penalties.

In the Week 13 edition of “Sunday Night Football”, the NFL gave us a nice-looking AFC matchup between the Colts and the Steelers. But if these Steelers are to have a 2015 postseason that threatens to extend itself toward February, it’s their defense that will be responsible, not in a sense of carrying this team but in the sense of being more. In recent weeks, he had showed promise, becoming a larger part of the offense with Marshawn Lynch out for the season due to an abdomen injury. The drop off from him to Charlie Whitehurst is about as deep as the Grand Canyon. Henry Anderson: gone. Jerrell Freeman: out for this game. Freeman was injured against Tampa Bay two games ago and has yet to practice since he incurred the injury.
