Countered Logano: “We both went for the same piece of real estate”. I’m not thinking of it from a historic standpoint or even really letting it sink in that this is my final race here. “I’m sure from the 22 standpoint, he didn’t want the 20 to win”. That’s the way I’d race to win any race. And he’s probably going to be a strong auto if he’s got the lead. It’s a great opportunity we have in front of us.
A win on Sunday would enhance Earnhardt’s reputation as the best restrictor-plate racer of his era. Now it’s go time for Ryan Newman and the #31 group and on Sunday we will see if they are up to the task to move on in this season’s Sprint Cup title chase.
“I’m not going to worry about that”, he said.
Last season Kyle Busch came to Talladega as the point leader and relatively safe to advance.
