Beyond becoming a reader and bookseller favorite, I Am Pilgrim was THE summer thriller of 2014, appearing as a top choice in summer round-ups all over the country, hitting the New York Times Best Seller list, and spending four weeks as a Los Angeles Times bestseller. Vaughn also had been linked to a Flash Gordon movie recently. Andrew Mittman will executive produce while Lloyd Braun will serve as producer.

MGM announced that Vaughn will helm I Am Pilgrim, which follows a man, codenamed “Pilgrim“, who once led a secret USA espionage program.

Based on the novel by Terry Hayes, the story tracks the adopted son of a wealthy American family, who previously spearheaded a covert espionage operation for the USA government. Happily retired, our hero is dragged back into the game when asked to lend his expertise to an anti-terrorist investigation, and soon finds himself in a race against time to thwart a massive-scale disaster event.

“We could not be more excited to have a consummate filmmaker like Matthew to bring I Am Pilgrim to the screen”. Glickman and Matt Dines will oversee I Am Pilgrim for the studio. The plan was reportedly to shoot the sequel in 2016, but we suspect it depends on which of that film and I Am Pilgrim is ready to go first. Production begins in 2016.
