Maulana Fazl reaches MQM’s headquarter 90

Fazlur Rehman, chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam is visiting Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters on Tuesday (today) to convince MQM lawmakers to take their resignations back. “He is being treated at a private hospital”, Shaikh told Reuters, adding that Rashid’s driver died in the attack.

MQM leader Rashid Godil has been rushed to a hospital after his auto was shot at by two unidentified men on motorcycles in Karachi, Pakistan.

“Godil’s driver, Abdul Mateen, succumbed to his injuries while the MQM leader is critically injured and being operated”, he said, according to The Express Tribune. Godil suffered three bullet wounds.

His wife who was with him in the auto remained unhurt. He is expected to hold a meeting with MQM officials tomorrow at Nine Zero.

Police said that the area where the shooting took place had several banks, department stores and houses with cctv cameras.

The assassination attempt was condemned immediately, with Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah ordering IG Sindh police to initiate a full investigation and JUI-F’s Jan Muhammad Khan Achakzai condemning the attack during his meeting with MQM leaders.

He will arrive at the MQM’s headquarters at 11 AM tomorrow.

The resignations have not yet been formally accepted by the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, which is trying to get the party to reverse its decision.

The party has been at the center of controversy after party chief Altaf Hussein, who lives in exile in London but still delivers fiery speeches by phone, accused the military of targeting his party.
