It has been decided that the matter of MQM resignations will be discussed during the next round of talks.

During his meeting with MQM leaders on Tuesday, Fazlur Rehman was successful in persuading them to hold a second round of talks over the resignation issue in Islamabad.

On the occasion, MQM leader Farooq Sattar said his party would hold talks with the government officials in the next phase.

The government has tasked Fazlur Rehman to mediate with the MQM and convince the party to withdraw resignations of its lawmakers from the assemblies.

He lauded the MQM for adhering to dialogue despite a big tragedy of deadly attack on Rasheed Godil.

Dr Sattar informed Maulana Fazl about the reasons that compelled the MQM to take the extreme decision of quitting parliament.

He said MQM wanted to resolve all issues through dialogue and negotiations, and hoped the JUI-F chief would present suggestions to address their reservations.

Fazlur Rehman prayed for the recovery of Rashid Godil, who sustained multiple bullet wounds in an attack that took place in broad day light in Bahadurabad area of the city. “Like every other dialogue process, this will also gradually move forward”, he said.

Dr Sattar said Maulana Fazl had come to the “Nine Zero” as a mediator and the MQM and Mr Hussain trusted him.

“Despite the unfortunate terror incident, I did not observe any change in the positive attitude of MQM leadership”, Fazl said.

Last week, the lawmakers belonging to the MQM resigned from both Houses of the Parliament and the Sindh assembly as a protest against the ongoing Rangers-led operation in Karachi which the party terms as “anti-MQM”.
