Mauricio Pochettino concedes Tottenham were off the pace against Manchester City

Manchester City will look to rebound from a disastrous week this Saturday against Tottenham Hotspur, as City looks to continue its march to the Premier League title.

Goals from Gabriel Jesus, Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling gave Manchester City a deserved 3-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Here’s what we learned from Wembley.

The trophy could be City’s as early as Sunday if Manchester United lose, but as the Red Devils are home to bottom side West Brom, celebrations appear unlikely.

Kane at least returned the favour as Eriksen scored in the 42nd minute. Wonderful first half displays where they could have been home and dry but then they unnecessarily got themselves in trouble.

Spurs had problems everywhere as they fell 2-0 down in the 25th minute, leaving them in a worse situation than they had been at the same stage at the Etihad. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have thrown away their game in hand over Chelsea in fifth, though they do remain seven points ahead of the Blues.

The Argentine has not been risked in a return to domestic competition, with John Stones also absent through injury.

Heads did not clear in the home defence and, after Jesus failed to capitalise on the referee’s advantage with a second goal, play was brought back for Lloris’ indiscretion.

“What they lived in the last week was so unfair but they deserve (to win the league) and now we have a match ball. We will see. He has done great, he has had an awesome season and has gone ahead, so we will see”, Kane told Sky Sports.

However, this time there was no second-half collapse as City should have ran out even more convincing winners.

Hugo Lloris fouled Raheem Sterling outside the box. The apocalypse is nigh.

The defeat leaves Mark Hughes without a point in his three league games in charge and the FA Cup semi-finalists are now five points from safety in 18th spot.

But this really isn’t a new thing.

Subs: Son (5), Sissoko (5), Moura (6). Yet when you think about it, which goalkeepers in the PL are better than Lloris? However, Spurs will most certainly not just lie down and let them take it on their watch.

However, despite the squad hiccups, Pep Guardiola’s men secured a convincing victory as they took a step closer to the title.
