Mavericks, DeAndre Jordan agree to 4-year deal
“‘He will be our best player for many years to come”, a very happy Mavs owner, Mark Cuban, told the L.A. Times.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Mavericks are still in the race to sign Lin, who became an unrestricted free agent this offseason after his previous three-year, $25 million contract expired.
Many close to Jordan believed that the highly coveted center would re-sign with the Clippers who have a championship caliber roster, and were a fourth quarter collapse away from reaching the Western Conference Finals last season. A person with direct knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that the ex- No. 2 overall draft pick, who averaged 8.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 74 games for the Kings last year, has agreed to terms with the Knicks on a two-year deal worth $10 million.
Jordan averaged 11.5 points and 15.0 rebounds during the Clippers’ playoff run last season.
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the Los Angeles Clippers are pushing hard to retain Jordan.
The contract with the Dallas Mavericks is for 4 years and $80 million with a player option after the 3rd year.
Jordan had a real chance to show off what he could do on the offensive end when Blake Griffin was sidelined for 15 games because of a staph infection in his right elbow that required surgery from late February to mid-March.
The Lakers sought a second meeting after they learned their first presentation in Aldridge’s eyes was too focused on off-the-court opportunities and not on how the team envisioned using him. President and head coach Doc Rivers built up Jordan’s career, helping him to focus on his strengths, put him in better spots on the floor and built up the confidence that ex- head coach Vinny Del Negro had torn down. Parsons, of course, had a huge hand in the recruiting of DeAndre Jordan to the Mavericks in the richest free-agent score in team history.
The loss of Jordan as they said leaves the Clippers looking for a center. His other options may include using the expiring contract of Jamal Crawford as trade bait. ESPN is reporting the Mavericks are eyeing Patrick Beverley with a deal.
