Mavs reach deals to bring back Williams, Powell

Powell is a restricted free agent, which means Dallas could have matched any offer from another team.

However, they made sure he never got to that point by agreeing to a four-year deal worth an estimated $37 million. The Warriors could match the deal if they miss out in their pursuit of Kevin Durant. The options at center in free agency are not particularly appealing and Pachulia ingratiated himself last season as a strong locker-room influence on top of producing solid numbers.

Multiple reports have Conley meeting with the Dallas Mavericks after free agency begins, but – at least right now – the Mavericks look like the only team that will present a viable alternative for Conley besides going back to Memphis for a five-year max contract. Durability concerns make it risky to trust him as a top fantasy point guard, but he still offers enough when on the court to be a roster-worthy player.

While his time with the Nets was marked by moodiness and frequent injury issues, Williams left an impression on coach Rick Carlisle by trying to play through a sports hernia in a first-round playoff loss to Oklahoma City. The Mavs clearly believe Powell’s future is bright, as he averaged only six points and four rebounds per game last season. Powell came to the Mavericks in the Rajon Rondo trade with Boston in December 2014.
