Outside the city, high schools in Newton, Arlington, Haverhill, Lawrence, Brockton, Billerica, Amherst, as well as a middle school in Chatham, all received threats via telephone Monday, according to multiple reports. Today, it was decided that the best course of action was for students and staff to remain in the building while school and police personnel cleared it, which occurred in a thorough and efficient manner. Students were dismissed at the usual 2:20 p.m. time after the bomb threat was determined to not be credible. “The proper protocols and procedures were followed as directed by both federal and state law enforcement agencies.

When people want to cause damage or harm, they usually just do it without warning people about it”, said Sarah Maggelet, parent of Templeton High School student.

Meanwhile, parents and others sounded off on Facebook, some contending they were better informed by texts and pictures sent by their children from inside the high school.

UPDATE 4:30 P.M.: The Sheriff’s Office has completed its sweep of the Templeton High School campus and no suspicious devices or items have been found. “That is why it is there”, Steve Wojtas added.

As a safety precaution, we are evacuating the school.

“You have to take every situation like this seriously”, he said.
