Mayweather defends Rousey after her Saturday loss

Holm handed Rousey her first loss at UFC 193 on Saturday for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight championship title.

Before she signed with the UFC in 2014, Holm’s final fight outside the promotion at Legacy FC 30 ended courtesty of … wait for it … wait for it … yup … a left kick to the head.

Floyd Mayweather has now offered his boxing expertise to fallen UFC champion Ronda Rousey, despite their contentious history.

Mayweather told Fighthype.com that he I hasn’t really spoke to anyone about the Ronda Rousey situation. I have not spent this much time in the gym before any fight in my life… “I have always dreamed about being a world champion, and her loss to Holm opened a lot of doors for everyone in the division”. Then you take all the things about physically not being flawless, then add the pressure and the workload that gets put on you when you become a UFC champion. “Everything happens for a reason”. This was already written. Ronda is, ‘I’m going to go out and f**king bang with you.

“I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support”, Rousey wrote.

“I don’t think I need to say that”. Seeing her act like this is a bad look for her, and more importantly, the sport of mixed martial arts.

Mayweather’s comments may be surprising for a few since Rousey has had a few choice words for the boxer. However, despite what others have said, Mayweather said he doesn’t find it cool at all that people are trolling Rousey on the Internet, and he believes she will be able to bounce back from this loss. The 28-year-old responded after winning the Best Fighter award at the ESPYs ahead of Mayweather earlier this year by referencing his previous domestic violence convictions.

“She (Holm) didn’t shock me”, she told TMZ. “She worked at it. And you see Conor (McGregor) work at it. These guys that can go on these long runs are very unique individuals”.

“Ronda was overrated, we just needed someone to get in there and kill her game”, she said.

Even before the win over Rousey, Holm had a reputation as one of the most brutal strikers to be recruited into UFC.

“Boxing came easier to me than I thought it would”, she said in the biography on her web page.
